Governor Kathy Hochul and her allies here in Albany despise an armed population, and now they are trying a backdoor tactic to ram through one of the most sweeping handgun bans imaginable.
S. 399 and A. 199 would ban the sale of Glock pistols and other commonly owned semi-automatic handguns across New York State.
The excuse is so-called “Glock switches,” even though those devices are already illegal under state and federal law.
This bill does nothing to stop criminals. It targets us.
(Hochul wants to ban the sale of Glocks in New York State!)

If passed, this legislation would prohibit the future sale of some of the most popular defensive handguns in America. Millions of people rely on these firearms for personal protection, especially here, where violent criminals run wild.
Make no mistake — this is not about public safety.
It is about incremental disarmament.
First came bans on AR-15s. Then came magazine limits. Then came the CCIA. Then came ammo registration. Now Hochul is moving directly against the handguns New Yorkers depend on most.
What’s even more alarming is how they may try to pass it.
Insiders in Albany are warning us that Hochul’s team is exploring ways to sneak this ban into the state budget negotiations.
Budget bills are massive, must-pass legislation, and politicians often bury controversial provisions inside them to avoid public scrutiny.
If that happens, there may be little or no opportunity for public hearings, debate, or amendments.

This is how major gun control laws are often pushed through here in New York — quietly, quickly, and without warning.
Hochul knows an outright vote on a standalone handgun ban would generate enormous backlash. Folding it into the budget could allow Albany politicians to claim their hands were tied while still delivering exactly what anti-gun activists want.
That is why gun owners must speak up immediately.
Your petition sends a clear message to Albany that New Yorkers are watching closely and will hold politicians accountable for any attempt to sneak this ban through behind closed doors.
Please don’t assume someone else will act.

P.S. Albany insiders are warning that Hochul may try to hide this handgun ban inside the state budget — where it could pass with little debate and no transparency.
