Session adjourns on June 4, meaning we are entering the most dangerous stretch of the legislature here in Albany.
The final weeks before adjournment are where gun control usually passes. Deals happen behind closed doors. Leadership twists arms in private. And once Albany Democrats have the votes they need, things can happen very fast.
That is exactly why gun owners need to pay attention right now.
As you know, Kathy Hochul still has not passed a real state budget. Instead, she has now signed her 13th budget extender to temporarily keep the government operating while negotiations continue behind closed doors.
But once the final budget deal is finished, Hochul and the Democrats are going to pivot hard toward gun control.
If we wait to mobilize opposition until then, it will be too late.
Over the last several weeks, Hochul has been publicly bragging about building support for her gun control agenda here in Albany.
Right now, we are facing multiple threats including:
S. 399 — banning the sale of Glock handguns in New York State
S. 362 — a 10-day waiting period on all firearm purchases
A. 360 — requiring a mental health exam to purchase a firearm
S. 4277 — banning .50 caliber rifles, potential for much more
S. 5974 — $1,000,000 in liability insurance to own a firearm

This is not random legislation.
It is a coordinated effort to restrict, register, and eventually eliminate as many gun rights as possible here in New York State.
And, of course, none of this would stop violent crime.

We are not promising victory.
But we are promising that NYS Firearms Association will fight to hold the line here in Albany and hold anti-gun politicians accountable at election time for every vote they cast against our gun rights.
