Hochul’s S.362 could be brought to the Senate floor without warning

Wed, Mar 11, 2026

As of this morning, S.362 — Hochul’s bill imposing a 10-day waiting period on gun purchases — is still sitting on the New York Senate debate calendar.

That means it could be brought to the floor at any time.

And if gun owners are not applying constant pressure, Albany politicians could quietly move this legislation forward before most New Yorkers even realize what is happening.

Make no mistake about what this bill would do.

Under S.362, law abiding gun owners like you and me would be forced to wait 10 full days before taking possession of a firearm we have already passed a background check to purchase.

This delay does nothing to stop criminals.

Criminals do not buy guns through legal channels.

But it absolutely could disarm a law abiding citizen who needs a firearm immediately for self-defense — which is exactly why anti-gun politicians are pushing this legislation.

Governor Kathy Hochul and her allies here in Albany despise an armed population.

This is their latest effort to make it so difficult to buy a gun that most New Yorkers just don’t even bother. And that will get innocent people — especially women — harmed.

That’s why gun owners must continue applying pressure right now.
