The 2021 legislative session is very close to adjourning.
And as we have seen many times before, Governor Cuomo and the starry-eyed socialists in Albany are doing everything they can to advance their entire gun control agenda in the final days of the session, leaving us little time to react.
That’s why I’m writing you today — to make you aware of the biggest threat to our gun rights in Albany — and to ask you to help us STOP IT before it’s too late!
Most gun owners have experienced the impact of gun control here in New York State as an a la carte process. Cuomo has banned specific firearms, specific magazines and is trying to ban specific purchases of ammunition.
But that is changing.
What Cuomo and his allies want more than ANYTHING else is the ability to simply snap their fingers and declare large portions of the population as mentally unfit to own a firearm based on nothing more than the word of a ‘mental health professional’ that has been selected by the State of New York!
And if they pass S-1605/A-3829 in the final days of this legislature, that’s exactly what will happen, as this bill would require a mental health background check on gun owners each time you try to buy a firearm!
I don’t know about you, but I’m sure that anyone who loves the flag, President Trump, or the Second Amendment will have a very hard time passing this ‘test’ — especially as the Biden Administration tries to label us all as domestic enemies.
It’s important that you do, so that we can show the legislature how many gun owners are opposed to this tyrannical legislation!
Don’t forget, while ALMOST EVERY OTHER STATE in the country has reopened their legislatures to the public, Cuomo has maintained a total and complete lockdown of the Capitol complex in Albany so that ‘we the people’ can’t observe their actions.
And with online voting still in use, there is no way for gun owners to physically meet with the politicians in Albany right now, so please send your pre-written email instead!
Obviously, no gun owner wants a criminally deranged person walking around carrying a gun. But there is already a process in place to deal with people like that.
Just consider the facts.
Under current law, those who exhibit ‘warning signs’ can already be detained by law enforcement — at minimum — and can be taken to a care facility for treatment if necessary.
But Senator Sanders’ bill has nothing to do with attempting to help individuals who need mental health treatment.
On the contrary, this legislation is about authorizing Governor Cuomo to totally weaponize ‘mental health staffers’ across the state and instruct them to deny your right to own a firearm for just about any reason they want!
It wouldn’t matter if you’ve not been charged with a crime!
It wouldn’t matter if you have a spotless record!
It wouldn’t matter if you’ve been a gun owner for 40 years!
That’s because this legislation has nothing to do with public safety; rather, this is a tool for radical socialists in Albany who want to break the back of gun owners in this great state once and for all.
You see, tyrannical dictators have been labeling political opponents as ‘mentally defective’ as a way to punish them for a very long time.
Former Russian leaders Stalin, Khrushchev, and Brezhnev imprisoned countless people who disagreed with their Communist agenda, leaving them in prison or labor farms or worse…
China’s Chairman Mao did this too, denying people who questioned him the right to vote, travel, and much more, claiming that they were mentally defective.
And now Governor Cuomo and the lunatics who run our legislature in Albany are trying to do the same thing — use the results of a politically motivated mental health test against gun owners who disagree with their gun-grabbing agenda.
In fact, this bill is so bad that even some of the normal gun-grabbing crowd in the Capitol are getting nervous, quietly urging legislative leaders in Albany to keep this bill from coming up for a vote.
After all, gun owners threw anti-gun State Senators Monica Martinez and Jen Metzger out of office last year for voting against our gun rights, and their allies in Albany are still talking about it, worried they may be next.
And that’s why, with your help, we can stop this disgusting legislation! So please send your email right away!
The New York State Firearms Association is doing everything we can to sound the alarm about this bill right now, so that we can FLOOD the legislature with calls and emails and petitions in opposition to this legislation!
Some people have suggested that this legislation isn’t that dangerous, assuming that the Supreme Court would surely strike it down if signed into law.
That may be true. But as we all know, it takes YEARS to get a case before the Supreme Court and that only happens if they voluntarily agree to hear the case in the first place.
And with the radical left threatening to pack the court with anti-gun leftist judges, we simply can’t sit back and hope for the best. We must stop this right now, in Albany!
We are doing everything we can to mobilize a grassroots army of gun owners in opposition to this bill through a combination of our massive email program, targeted social media, and much more — and your signed email is a part of that program.
And if you possibly can, please make a generous contribution once you’ve sent your email — so that we can mobilize as many gun owners as possible.
I don’t know what you can afford. But I do know that this is the biggest threat that we’ve ever faced as gun owners, and time is not on our side.
I don’t know about you, but the idea of letting Governor Cuomo and his allies label proud gun owners as mentally defective without fighting back with everything we have, is simply not an option for me.
Some people say that New York State is gone, and that we should all just move away. But I don’t believe that, not for a second! I meet wonderful people every single day, patriots, who care deeply about our flag, our nation, and this great state!
In many ways, freedom in this great country got its start right here in New York State, where over one-third of our nation’s Revolutionary War battles were fought!
We cannot give up. Our forefathers stood for freedom and carved out the greatest country the world has ever known, freeing us from the tyranny of Europe.
But that freedom is under attack! And it’s up to you and me to make sure that our children and grandchildren will inherit the same freedoms that our forefathers passed down to us!
